A specialist bookclub for people who can't get out and about.
The reading group has been meeting since March 2008 and involves between six and seven Library Services at Home members. Each member uses a telephone in their own home to listen and chat with the other members. There are no charges made to the telephone bill and the telephone call is private and confidential.
Rob Cooper from Library Services at Home is present to facilitate and support the group’s friendly and informal discussions which last around 40 minutes. Library Services at Home staff all contribute to selecting titles which promotes our reader development. We have no set genre other than any titles need to be available on all reading or listening formats.
The Telebook club has been formed specifically for our customers and is running at full capacity. This teleconferencing book club has been made possible with the help and support of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme (RSVP) and the Community Network Organisation.
The Telebook club has also had author visits! Members were excited to talk with author Elizabeth Buchan (Seperate Beds, Revenge of the Middle-Aged Woman, The Good Wife) who very kindly took time out of her schedule when attending the Stratford Upon Avon Literary Festival 2012 and joined the chat. Lots of questions were asked from the members regarding Elizabeth’s work and she wrote to thank us for a 'fantastic and inspiring session.'
Some of the other titles we have enjoyed recently are:
