Agatha Raisin, Love, lies and liquor by M.C. Beaton.
I enjoyed this story immensely, very light-hearted and easy to read with intrigue, romance and, to be honest, well rounded and believable characters. We all know an Agatha Raisin type in real life even if they don’t go as far as solving murders and crimes!

Far From Home – Anne Bennett
Most interestingly this book takes place in Birmingham during the 2nd World War blitz. Many familiar places and names are mentioned, even Nov 22nd 1940, which was the night my Dad, who was a fireman, was killed. News of Birmingham during the war was nil due to the work that was being done here, but we Birmingham folk helped each other.

Fortune’s Rocks - Anita Shreve
The characters are so developed they come alive. The language used is so wonderful and the period is portrayed vividly. I don’t usually like American literature, but this had me really gripped.
