A Country Wife, by Lucy Pinney
Lucy falls in love with a farmer and is whisked away from the big city for a honeymoon of harvesting. She grows to love the countryside, but hits hard times when her husband leaves her. Some of the incidents were almost unbelievable as Lucy struggles to run a farm and raise a family; it’s a life that’s very different from what most of us know. This was a fascinating read.

The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith (J.K. Rowling)
Cormoran Strike is a war veteran turned private detective. When a model falls to her death from a balcony, it is treated as a suicide. Her brother, however, suspects foul play and hires Strike to investigate. There are lots of twists and turns as Strike delves deeper into the case.
I’ve never been an admirer of the Harry Potter books, but I thoroughly recommend this, it’s hard to believe it’s the same author. I hope she is well on the way to writing another.
